About Jess Buffett

Jess Buffett was born and raised in New South Wales, Australia. Jess is a mum of two, married to her high school sweetheart. She is a hopeless romantic who is a huge fan of M/M and M/F romance with a happy ending—anything with hunky men in all their glory, whether they be Shifters, Vampires, Cowboys, or the boy next door. A caffeine addict who shamefully can’t make a decent cup of coffee to save her life, Jess believes in soul mates, happily ever afters, and in love at first sight, but that sometimes people need a second or a third for the brain to catch up.

Heart in Chains by Elodie Parkes!

Heart in Chains, Elodie Parkes, Encompass Ink, April 23,

MM erotic romance/ suspense
I so enjoyed writing ‘Heart in Chains’. I’d just written, MM
romance, ‘A Forever Kind of Thing’ for an Encompass Ink anthology to be
released later this year and I was still in MM story writing mode.
Connor and Jay my heroes just gelled in my mind immediately
as I considered the kind of adventure Connor might have on vacation in an
exotic place such as Indonesia. Jay is a mysterious character, tough, driven, but
on the verge of changing his dangerous life when he meets Connor. Connor is
still getting over a relationship break up, but it’s been long enough and he’s
tired of being single. His former boyfriend’s betrayal stays with him, but as
soon as he sees Jay, attraction is seeded in his heart.
These two characters are dear to me. Tenderness lies beneath
Jay’s composed and tough exterior and courage lies beneath Connor’s sexual
vulnerability. I think both will surprise you as you read their story.

When Connor Douglas
takes a tropical island holiday, he hopes to leave heartbreak behind. Little
does he know the extent of the danger and sexual temptation that awaits him.
Long after Jay
Levesque has closed down his operations on the very same tropical island, the
memory of Connor haunts him.
Warm nights and
scorching sex has someone’s heart in chains.
Read a teaser:
Darkness was falling as Jay arrived back with another man.
They carried a tray each and the other man carried a stool. The other man left,
but Jay smiled at Connor as he waited by the bed. Jay flipped a switch on the
wall by the door and lit the place. Light streamed downward from the little
white coolie-hat shade.
“Come, let’s eat.” He indicated the chair and sat on the
stool himself.
Connor dragged his chain as he went to the table. He sat and
took the cover off the plate of food. It looked good and the fish was already
cut up, which was great since there was no knife, only a fork by his plate. He
didn’t expect to be hungry, but after tasting the food, he ate almost all of it
before he put down his fork and gave a sigh.
Jay ate slowly. When Connor stopped eating so did he and he
placed his fork on the tray.
“It’s good to see you eat. Kiku, the man who brought the
food with me, is going to bring coffee. Tell me about yourself.”
Connor turned to face Jay. He felt better after eating. “I
don’t get it. Why do you want to know? Why are you being kind?”
Jay frowned. “There’s no need not to be kind. Humor me. Tell
me a little about yourself.”
Connor shrugged. “I’m a marine biologist. I’m on vacation. I
needed something completely different in my life for a time. These islands
seemed like a good idea, far away, warm, beautiful, and …” He stopped talking. What’s the point in this?
Jay pushed his dark hair back from his forehead and folded
his arms. He smiled.
“Far away. From what, Connor? A love affair gone wrong I
think.”
Connor looked down at the remains of his food in confusion.
Did he really want to tell his captor about his heartbreak?
“Not that it’s anything to do with you, but yes … I guess.”
Before Connor could react or even know what was happening,
Jay reached out a hand and slipped it around Connor’s head. He swooped on
Connor’s mouth and kissed him.
The kiss was so unexpected and yet so delicious, Connor
closed his eyes and let it happen. He drifted in the soft merge of Jay’s lips
on his. The lingering pressure and the way Jay brought his other hand up to
caress the back of Connor’s neck was addictive. Connor leaned into the embrace.
His cock hardened. Tingles from the circle of Jay’s fingertips on his neck
spread down his spine and made his ass feel melted. Thoughts left him. The only
thing that mattered right then was the kiss, and he lifted his hands to hold
Jay’s muscled shoulders and kiss him in return.
It was Jay who drew away from the kiss.
Connor leaned back in his chair then, shocked at his
response.

Blurb:

Phillips is beautiful, brilliant, and hiding. Forced to suppress what she knows is one of the biggest medical discoveries in history, she flees to the majestic Rocky Mountains of western Montana. In picturesque Pine Creek, Montana the biggest battle she faces is her undeniable attraction to the local sheriff. A relationship with Brandt Morgan is a recipe for disaster on many levels. The only other man who had ever captured her interest was a man she met briefly two years ago. Fate prevented her from following through after meeting Ryan Morgan, and it appears to be hell bent on blocking her yet again.

Cousins Ryan and Brandt may have met Joelle under different circumstances, but their interest is the same. The cousins made a vow years ago to share a wife—will that long ago promise stand the test of time? And, can they, their families, and friends keep her safe from a high profile enemy long enough to find out?

Excerpt:

Joelle looked around the enormous main room of the Prairie Winds Club and couldn’t hold back her smile.  The place was huge and the decorations were perfect for the Hill Country of Texas.  She saw several stage areas and a good-sized dance floor, but the feature that caught her eye was the metal spiral staircase.  The cutouts along the side depicted various western scenes and the entire piece was nothing short of spectacular.  Before she could take in everything around her, she was being led to what looked like a bar right out of…damn, what was that show?
Ryan leaned close to speak to her and she could hear the amusement in his voice.  “I can see the question in your eyes—yes, the bar was fashioned to resemble Miss Kitty’s in Gunsmoke.  This might not be Dodge City, but the West brothers didn’t seem to care if they were borrowing facts.”  Joelle listened as introductions were made, but it was the tiny blonde bombshell standing between the West brothers who captured her attention.  Tobi West had an almost pained expression on her pretty face Joelle recognized all too well.  Damn, we interrupted something.
Tobi still hadn’t pulled herself together when a pretty Latino woman stepped up beside her.  The men introduced her to Gracie McDonald and one of her husbands, Jax McDonald.  Jax took one look at Tobi and laughed.  “Damn, sweet cheeks, did your Masters wind you up and leave you floating in the breeze again?”  Joelle had to swallow her giggle when Tobi growled at him.  The sterner of Tobi’s husbands warned her about her surly behavior but it didn’t seem to bother the petite blonde much.
Gracie stood on her tiptoes to whisper in Jax’s ear and he turned stroking the side of her face in a move so filled with affection Joelle found herself staring at them.  “Yes, carinõ, I think that’s an excellent idea.  But stay in the lit areas, you know your other Master is in the control room, don’t give him a reason to call me.”  Control room?  Oh my, what kind of place is this?  The women grabbed drinks, making sure Joelle got something as well before leading her out the back door.
“Oh my God.  This is spectacular.”  Joelle couldn’t hold back her surprise.  The landscaping alone looked like something out of a movie.  She read the sign directing people to the Forum Shops which Tobi explained catered to all things “kinky” including everything from the most extreme fet-wear to piercing and waxing services.  They settled into comfortable lounge chairs in an open area overlooking the broad expanse of the West’s backyard.  “Is that a lake?”  Darkness was quickly blocking out the view, but she was sure she’d seen the sparkle of lights dancing over the surface of the water.
“It’s a river, but right here it’s actually pretty wide so I can see why you might wonder.  I wish we could go down to the gazebo, but there aren’t as many cameras there and I know Micah would call Jax and tattle on us.”
Gracie shook her head.  “Don’t start Tobi, I’ve already told you, I don’t want to spend the whole week with a sore bum.”
“Bum?  Good Lord of the Leprechauns, you’re turning into a pansy-assed good girl…I’ll bet you’re even wearing panties.”  When Gracie laughed, Tobi continued, “That’s it, I’m going to have to get myself a new bestie.  Hanging out with you will destroy my reputation…and holy crap on a cannonball, what if it’s contagious?  Damn it to donuts, I’ll probably have nightmares about this now.  Thanks for nothing Miss Goody-Two-Shoes.”  Tobi let out a dramatic sigh that probably would have earned her an Oscar nomination in a different venue.  Holy shit could the girl ever put on a performance.  And Gracie’s look of righteous indignation just added to the comedic moment.  Joelle couldn’t hold it in a moment longer…she burst out laughing.
Damn if felt good to laugh so hard the tension of the past few days finally drained away.  Joelle leaned back letting the strain she’d been under fall away.  “Holy hell, you two are good for the soul…has anyone ever told you that?  You make me miss my friend Coral even more.  She’s been my sounding board for months and now she’s off bouncing around tropical islands enjoying her honeymoon.”
“Coral Williams?  Oh, I guess she is Coral Morgan now, isn’t she?”  When Joelle nodded, Tobi’s face lit up.  “I talked to her via web-cam.  She seems really sweet, but I think there is a firecracker under there you’re going to see bubble right up to the surface now that she’s safe.”  Turning to Gracie, she added, “Remember me telling you about all the drama in Montana?  Holy…”  Tobi’s eyes tracked around them and her voice lowered, “shiatzus, their surprise sniper was even older than Lilly.”  Gracie’s eyes widened and her mouth formed an oh making Joelle wonder who Lilly was and about the story they both seemed to know.
Unable to hold back her curiosity, Joelle inquired, “Who is Lilly?”
“My audacious mother-in-law, she’s my super hero.”
“She’s everybody’s super hero.”  Gracie’s agreement made Joelle even more curious.  “Lilly saved Tobi by taking out a boat and the bad guys in it with a single rifle shot.  The men swear it was luck, but I’m not buying it.”

Law
Being in the internationally successful boy-band Right Time had been everything I had ever wanted and more. Well, except for one thing, or should I say one person? But I had long ago acknowledged that I couldn’t have both the life and the person and I should be happy with what I had. That worked until he showed up in my life again. And then nothing made sense.

Byron
For years I had pretended I didn’t care. Ignoring my feelings had become second nature to me. That was until my niece begged me to take her to see her favorite boy-band, Right Time, for her birthday, and I came face to face with him. In all fairness, she had no idea the can of worms she’d be opening. And to tell the truth, neither did I.

“OMG. He knows your name, Uncle Byron?”

Byron flushed, glancing down at his niece before he flicked his gaze back to mine. “Ah … yeah, Emma, I do.”

The girl began to ramble while her friends stared on in awe. “How? Why? When did you become so cool?”

“Hey, I’ve always been cool.” I chuckled at Byron’s offended expression, grateful that he was momentarily distracted. The man’s gaze had always left him feeling open and exposed.

“Well, I mean sure, you are the cool Uncle Byron who bought my friends and me these really awesome tickets, but this…”

“But this is like a whole new hemisphere of awesomeness,” another one of the young girls finished, almost breathless in her shock.

I had honestly never felt so self-conscious before that moment. Not because of the girls. As shallow as it sounded, I was used to the lust filled expressions on women’s faces of varying age groups. Byron was another story. I wondered what he must be thinking, of me, of the situation. Even after all these years the man still had it in him to make me second guess myself. A nervous tension I felt only in his presence. It was ridiculous. I was ridiculous.

EXCERPT
Josh tried really hard not to acknowledge how the touch of her hand in his made him
feel. He needed to focus. “How long have you been looking for me?”
A self-deprecating laugh bubbled out when she shook her head. “Um, about
twenty minutes after you had checked out.”
“What?” Josh asked, surprised.
She started looking for him before? He had assumed she began her search when she
discovered the pregnancy. God, he really needed to stop assuming things,
because regardless of the saying, the only one it made look like an ass was
him.
“When I got home, I called my sister to blast her for letting me drink and go home
with a strange man who could have hurt me. Needless to say, she reminded me I
was a grown woman and when she was done, she told me about you. Charlotte said
we really hit it off, and you seemed like a great guy. She also mentioned I’d
be a fool to let you slip through my fingers.”
“So you called the hotel, and they told you I was gone.” He made it a statement. He
could see exactly how it played out. “And you didn’t know my last name, so
they wouldn’t give you any details and you couldn’t track me down.”
Bri nodded. “Pretty much. I tried to move on, even when small parts of the
night came back, but then I got really sick and went to the doctor. That was
eight weeks ago. This morning Charlotte turned up on my doorstep with the
article about you and daddy.” She grimaced when she mentioned her dad.
He repeated the action. “I can’t believe Brian Evan is your father.” He was
in so much trouble.
“Uh-huh.” She nodded, agreeing with him.
He winced. “You know he’s gonna have my balls and my business, right?”
“Daddy won’t do that.” She didn’t quite believe her own words.
“Oh, yes, he would. I’d do the same damn thing if it were my daughter.”
Aw, hell. He’d probably just shoot the bastard.
“Good to know.” She snickered.
Frowning, it took him a minute to catch on. Then he paled when it hit him, that he might very well have a daughter. “Oh, God.”
She didn’t snicker again—she laughed her ass off. “Just dawned on you, did
it?”
His usual anger at being the butt of the joke never came. Bri didn’t intend it to
be mean, she simply found him amusing, and he kinda liked that.
What is this woman doing to me?
“Your father is still gonna come after me. You have to be prepared for that. I
promise I won’t let that interfere, though.”
Bri sobered quickly. Deep in thought, her brow furrowed. Her button nose scrunched
up, and she gave her bottom lip a workout. Still, nothing could have prepared
him for her next words.
“We could tell him we’re engaged.”

You Are Not Alone!

Sooo, today I wanted to blog about something a little different. Now, I’ve made no secret over the years that I have 3 favourite TV Shows that I can’t live without. The Walking Dead, Teen Wolf and Supernatural.

I love these shows and before you say it, sure the fact that they all have incredibly attractive men strutting their stuff is a definite draw card, but that’s not what has me tuning in every week. It’s their relationships, the trust and loyalty between these make shift families that is stronger then any other bond.

aeecddc6979310654b8418ff2b63b039

These relationships melt into off-screen, and right now one of those families, Supernatural, is stepping up to once again offer support and kindness to those most often ignored. Seriously, these people don’t have to help, they don’t have to care, but they chose to. And they do so in the most amazing ways.

The Supernatural family has made a name for themselves over the years when it comes to helping others. It is one of the only shows I know who goes to such great lengths to show how much they care about their fans who have stood by them for the past eleven years.

Jared Padalecki, has been open about his struggles with mental health. This was a huge move, for him and for those who also suffer. He took a chance and stood up. For anyone else that would have been difficult, but for someone in his position it would have been downright terrifying. And still, he did something a lot of us may not have had the guts to do because he knew he could help others. He’s raised lots of money for mental health causes, and he’s encouraged people to ask for help when they need it and “always keep fighting.”

On top of this, in 2009 Misha Collins started a nonprofit devoted to good deeds called Random Acts. Using twitter, Misha asked his followers (aka Misha’s Minions) to come up with ideas for a “minionstimulus” project. The goal was to obtain U.S. government stimulus money (funding to aid endeavors to stop an economic recession) for non-profit “minion” initiatives.

The pursuit of government funding was soon abandoned in favor of morphing into a privately organized charity group and website, started by minion Lisa Walker and then known as Minion Stimulus. After visiting the fledgling website, Misha appointed Lisa his Director of Charitable Affairs.

With Misha’s prompting, the minions raised over $30,000 to help UNICEF’s aid efforts in Haiti. In mid-2010, with The Art Department as parent organization providing non-profit status, the Minion Stimulus morphed into Random Acts

And now Random Acts is partnering with a couple of other nonprofits to create The SPNFamily Crisis Support Network, “where trained fans can help other fans deal with depression, self-injury, and addiction.”

These people are amazing, plain and simple.
